The DVB2000 firmware is an alternative operating system
for older digital receiver NOKIA DVB9600S.
Generally it is possible to state that the quality of a digital satellite receiver
is above all dependent upon the quality of the firmware which controls the receiver.
Though the original firmware Nokia CI2.6 was fully functional for free and pay TV watching,
some users were not satisfied with its features and limited possibilities.
And so the DVB2000 firmware was created.
The firmware DVB2000 was created by a group of developers in Germany.
It was created with many features to be useful even for experienced users of the digital receiver.
The DVB2000 firmware is freely distributed and is available to download at

The DVB2000 firmware works with CI CAM Irdeto, Seca, Cryptoworks, and other CI modules.

Note:
If you want to change the DVB9600 original receiver firmware to DVB2000 it is necessary to change the communication software module for serial port RS232 - from original software CI1.06 to B2.00uns. It is possible to make this change with the help of a special BDM interface. This interface must be connected to a special connector inside the receiver. If you are not skilled in electronics please ask someone who is skilled in this area, otherwise there is a danger that at careless handling the CPU of the receiver can be damaged!!! If you are able to make the change yourself you can find a brief description of the bootloader installation here - bootloader B2.00uns. Alternative way of bootloader change is said to be with the help of Transbox Pro software over the serial port RS232 (not tested). The software used to be supplied by Mascom company in Germany for about 10-20 euro. Each of the mentioned ways of bootloader installation has its pros-and-cons.
